The Cake Story

My Cake Story began 8 years ago, using a different name; ‘Sweet Occasions’, which suited me as I was baking not only celebration cakes, but also desserts.  I work from home on our Family Farm, in Caunton just 6 miles from Newark in Nottinghamshire.

I have always enjoyed baking, so following the birth of my first daughter, I decided to go one step further and design and cover her christening cake myself. I went with a simple design, but put a lot of effort in and was amazed and very proud with the completed cake.

I placed an advert in my local Parish Magazine, attended a short Sugar craft course and started to receive orders for all sorts of celebration cakes and then my local public house asked if I would make them some desserts each week.

Gradually my business grew and people were placing orders from my reputation! It was very exciting! It has never just been about the cake design for me, it’s also about the CAKE!

I then fell pregnant with my second daughter and I decided to take a break so that I could enjoy precious time with her.

She is now 3 years old and starting nursery so I’m very eager to get baking again, only this time I wanted to make it a more professional business, so I had a website built, professional photo’s taken and gained lots of contacts, especially within the Wedding Industry.

I wanted to provide a different service, so I came up with the idea of presenting my Wedding Cake customers with their very own ‘Cake Story’. A storyboard, showing your cake design ideas and how everything came together and also a photo of the finished cake, a personal keepsake to provide very special memories!
